FIRST WIN FOR THE OPEN AGE 🙌 👌🏼 🟢🟡🏉
BURTONWOOD BRIDGE V PORTICO VINE OPEN AGE 22/04/2023
FINAL SCORE BURTONWOOD 8 – PORTICO VINE 16
The morning of Saturday 22nd April saw the Portico Vine open age team make the short journey to Burtonwood Bridge which was the first away game for the team and also the first for some of the players making their debut.
The weather looked a bit on the dreary side but was quite warm. As the players were arriving the Portico team where full of enthusiasm for the game as they wanted the win which would give morale a huge boost as the previous match saw a defeat.
The coaching staff had reviewed the game from the previous week and had recognised some weaknesses within the defence, this was worked on in training the week after the first game and this showed in their win. There were a few debutants and some team members missing also a few players having to play out of position, all proved good, their defence was strong.
Two players were lost in the first 10 minutes due to injury so for an hour we played on with 2 subs, they conceded the points towards the end of the game due the inability to bring on fresh legs.
We just brush ourselves off and dust ourselves off and build the team stronger and stronger.
